Jimmy Joyced!, directed by Sorcha Fox and performed by Donal O'Kelly, looks back at 1904 through the eyes of JJ Staines, a stallholder in Dublin’s Rathmines Market with a dangerous obsession for all things Joycean.
JJ drives like a man possessed through the full gamut of 1904 James Joyce, from his 22nd birthday on 2nd February to his departure with Nora Barnacle on 9th October, including the memorable encounter of Joyce with the man that would be his model for Bloom.
June 16th: São Luiz Teatro Municipal (Winter Garden at 6:30pm.)
Promoted by the Embassy of Ireland in Lisbon and sponsored by Culture Ireland. Free entrance.
Jimmy Joiced! will also be in Oporto (Teatro Carlos Alberto, 13th June at 9:30pm) and Faro (Teatro Lethes, 18th June at 10pm).
